Here some of our stars revealing their strategies, secrets and tips tactics on "How to make it large" in hospitality sector. This series is here to honour and appreciate the efforts of the outgone batch and to wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
Varghese Thomas : 2007 passed out batch, joined Royal Orchid Hotels Ltd. as Assistant Manager. Speak quality and not quantity and ensure that you are audible so that your points are conveyed across properly.
Pandi Raj : 2007 passed out batch, joined as Caribbean Cruise Liner as Assistant Bakery Chef. I put in a lot of effort as far as updating me with current affairs is concerned which is very essential if you want to stand out amongst a group of 10-12 people. I further improved my ability to prolong a conversation and turn it in my favour which included the power to convince someone.
Ganapathy : 2008 passed out batch, joined Hyatt Regency Chennai as F & B Executive. It was in Hyatt interviews where my preliminary interview went horrifying but on the basis of my confidence. I was selected for the second last round where it was most of self evaluative questions where I was asked to mention my toughest moment in life and how it had changed me as a person since then in terms of value systems. Infact this particular interview was aimed at how well I brought up by my parents and how it has helped me to balance my emotional and practical side. Such interviews can be mentally taxing where have to be honest and witty in your answers to ensure that you do not expose your weak part in front of the interviewer.
Kapil Vannan : 2008 passed out batch, joined Marriott Hotels Dubai as F & B Executive. Always shown your enthusiasm and assertiveness through your dressing, speaking and overall conduct. Finally, it is upon you to crack the job and do not blame the organization saying that it wasn`t fit for me. Aspire to be the best and it`s high time you bring out the X - Factor in you.
M. Madan : Working at Sufi International Pvt. Ltd. Singapore, Studied at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, lives in Singapore. Try to ensure that your personal traits, hobbies and family life is put across in a very formal manner i.e. only if it is asked a self introduction should not be more than 3-4 min. as it should only give basic details.
Kannan : Working at The Park, Chennai, after completion of 3 yrs diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology. Bring innovation in yourself, know your field through continuous research and spread your knowledge to your juniors.
Tamil Selvam : Working at The Park, Chennai, after completion of 1 yrs Trade diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology. Always remember one thing "Failure is the key of success".
Mani Shankar Mondal : Working at Radisson Blu, Chennai, after completion of 3 yrs diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology. Have faith in yourself, always be observant and look out of the nest and you will always find one or another thing new to you.
